Please mark your calendars for the second talk of our Feminist Lunch Series in the Faculty of Arts to be given on Tuesday, Oct. 17th at 12:30pm in Tilley 28 (UNB Campus) by Dr. Jason Bell (Philosophy).

Dr. Bell’s paper is titled: “Phenomenologist Feminists vs. the Nazis.” Edith Stein and Hannah Arendt have much in common: they were German, Jewish, feminists, phenomenologists, philosophers, and professors, whose fame has extended significantly beyond the academic sphere, including recent films made about their lives (The Seventh Chamber, Hannah Arendt). This talk explores whether similarities are also to be found in their discussions of the Nazi terror, which they experienced at first-hand. Can their phenomenological feminism still help us to oppose political evil and nascent tyranny?

All are welcome…please bring your lunch!

The Feminist Lunch Series is organized by the UNB Gender & Women’s Studies Program, the UNB/STU University Women’s Centre and the Office of the UNB Dean of Arts. For more information on the series, contact Sophie Lavoie (lavoie@unb.ca)
