The so-called western “democracies”, whose empires were built off stolen wealth from the South and the poor in their own countries claim to be champions of human rights and freedom. But it becomes clearer and clearer, especially in these streets the past few days, that peaceful protest will not be tolerated. The real violence hides itself in the Bella centre, the police and their masters, and in the minds of the hollow and shallow that will not go lightly as history rolls past and around them as they become irrelevant and a sad testimony to our past.
The global insurrection builds. Step by step.
Bella Centre – Today, hundreds of people from around the world gathered to enter the Bella Centre to pick up their credentials to observe and have the illusion of having meaningful input into solutions to climate change. There are choices but who and in whose interest will be they be made? The answer was clear today.
Most undoubtedly came here in good faith or hopefulness. A few keenly dressed journalists with perfect hair and threads came for a story they never got, at least not yet. The scripted show unravels.
The stakes are getting higher and the lines becoming clearer.
Christiania- Right now we are surrounded. Our whole neighbourhood is a police zone. Riot cops charging and knocking down some doors. We are safe here. This is not entirely a state of siege. It is not as serious and unpleasant as those that die daily for their beliefs in places of corporate domination. Some tear gas has been fired – nothing serious – a few rounds here and there. As people dance in the big tent and the police demand passports and violate human rights in the global village, we sip tea and eat chocolate. In the history of western civilization – this is kids play -it cannot be taken too seriously but must be recognized for what it is: A shallow expression of a rotting system of patriarchy, greed, power of sorts and a muzzled humanity that waits at the gates of their dreams for a real chance and another dream to unfold.
The provocative message sent tonight in Christiania can’t be taken too seriously. What about Genoa? Oaxaca? What about our martyrs? What about those whose names we do not know. They are us. We are them.
Sure this is provocative. How could it be otherwise?
