The Acadian forest covers the Maritimes and parts of Quebec and Maine. It is an ecosystem unique to this region. Sadly, local industries are harvesting this forest at a staggering rate with methods that only suffice short term profit. These prints examine the new Acadian forest that will be left for future generations.
I have used a combination of industrial and natural printmaking techniques to test the boundaries between the natural and industrial world. Etching and silk-screening detracts from the natural flow of the trees form. The cutting and burning methods of woodblock printing correspond to the forestry processes that are destroying the Acadian forest.
