Disaster relief for Fredericton’s Carleton Street fire victims

fireisaacway

fireisaacwayIn the early hours of Thanksgiving Sunday, a fire destroyed a 26 bedroom rooming house and restaurant in downtown Fredericton. Luckily there were no fatalities.

The first 72 hours of disaster relief have been a success. Interim needs are being met thanks to donations organized by Brunswick Street Baptist Church and Christ Central Church. Temporary accommodation support has been provided by the Canadian Red Cross, and the New Brunswick Department of Social Development will be connecting with victims on Tuesday morning in order to review eligibility for various relief benefits.

In the coming days and weeks, the 26 victims who lost their homes will face even greater challenges. Therefore, we are seeking community support in order to aid victims through the creation of the Thanksgiving Fire Victim Relief Fund.

Your financial donations will help prevent homelessness by helping individuals throughout the re-housing process.

Donations will be held in trust by the Community Action Group on Homelessness (CAGH), a Fredericton based network of nonprofit organizations, government liaisons and community leaders working to end homelessness. The CAGH is a project of Capital Region Mental Health and Addictions Inc., a local charitable nonprofit organization.

How and where to donate
