by NB Film Co-op
October 19, 2013
Reading Time: 2min read

FestivalSilverwaveThis year the Silver Wave Film Festival will screen 91 films over 4 days. 56 of the films were made by New Brunswick filmmakers. Silver Wave is proud to announce that the opening feature film for 2013 will be ALL THE WRONG REASONS. The film is directed by NB Film Co-op member Gia Milani and produced by her husband Tony Whalen. This is Gia’s first feature, an ensemble film about four everyday people: a store manager, a security guard, a fire fighter and a clerk who struggle in the aftermath of trauma. Silver Wave is also delighted to announce that the festival’s closing night Gala film is also directed by a New Brunswick filmmaker. Doug Sutherland, a longtime member of New Brunswick’s filmmaking community, and a resilient, veteran feature filmmaker will premiere his latest feature film DEAD ANYWAY on Sunday, November 10th at Tilley Hall. The logline for the film: Edward must choose between his life as an unemployed teacher separated from his wife and a new life with an exotic dancer and millions of dollars. The Festival has some exciting new partnerships and a couple of new venues associated with that. Silver Wave is co-presenting the film LAST CHANCE with Cinema Politica. The film won an award at the last FICFA Francophone Film Festival in Moncton and is about 5 asylum seekers who flee their native countries to escape homophobic violence. They face hurdles integrating into Canada, fear deportation, and anxiously await a decision that will change their lives forever. The 13th annual Silver Wave Film Festival takes place November 7-10, in Fredericton. Full Festival passes can be purchased through the NB Film Co-op, Rm 131, Charlotte Street Arts Centre, 732 Charlotte Street, Fredericton; tel. 506 455-1632 starting today October 18th. Visit the website www.swfilmfest.com for more information on the all of the films and activities and to view the full festival program. All other tickets will be sold at the venue door at the time of each screening.
