Robin Vose is the president of the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) and a professor of history at St. Thomas University. Delegates of faculty unions across the country attended the annual meeting of the CAUT on May 1st, where they issued a condemnation of Nova Scotia’s Bill 100, a bill that attacks the rights of academic workers in Nova Scotia. The interview addresses what austerity at universities means as well as the dangers that Bill 100 presents, and the challenges to them. Vose has also recently written an editorial, “The Great Austerity Swindle.”
