From the Margins: troubles with NB’s residential tenancy regime [audio]

by From the Margins
January 28, 2017
Reading Time: 1min read

This show features conversations with two anonymous tenants, who reflect on problems they have had with the residential tenancy regime in New Brunswick. Issues discussed include: the high cost of rent and lack of rent control; the problems with damage deposits; unclear standards on individual leases; shortcomings of the Office of the Rentalsman; and, the lack of services for tenants to know and assert their rights.

The show is intended as a starting point for conversation on this subject. From the Margins will be following up on the subject in the coming weeks, where we will talk to more tenants and others with knowledge on the subject.
