Wolastoq Grand Council Chief Spasaqsit Possesom

On May 29, 2019, the Wolastoq Grand Council sent a declaration to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Federal Ministers and New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs. The declaration is intended to “reaffirm and redefine our future relationship with Canada on a true Nation to Nation basis.”

The declaration can be read here.

The Wolastoq Grand Council is also seeking a meeting with Fredericton MP Matt DeCourcey to discuss their opposition to the “Termination White Paper 2.0.” Russell Diabo and Pamela Palmeter are among those denouncing the moves by the Trudeau government to limit and extinguish Aboriginal title and rights.
