A poem by El Jones for Earth Day [video]

Today – April 22, 2020 – is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, an event celebrated in more than 190 countries to demonstrate public support for protecting the environmental and the planet.

To mark this occasion, the NB Media Co-op is publishing a video we produced of a spoken word performance by El Jones, a poet, activist and professor living in Halifax. El’s performance was recorded in Fredericton on September 20, 2019 as part of the Poetry for the Climate Crisis event curated by Christine Wu.

To watch it, click on the video link below:

The Poetry for the Climate Crisis event was co-hosted by the NB Media Co-op and the RAVEN project at the University of New Brunswick, during the global week of climate action, Sept. 20-27, 2019. In Fredericton, we co-hosted a series of events all week, Voices for the Environment, to draw attention to the climate crisis and the people and groups working for environmental action and social justice.
