DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStanding with Wet’suwet’en – Solidarity Rally\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHosted by STU Sustainability\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday, February 27, 2020 at 12 PM – 1 PM\n\n\n\nSt. Thomas University\n51 Dineen Drive, Fredericton, New Brunswick E3B 5G3\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStudents of St. Thomas University will be hosting a rally to stand in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en, and demand action from the University.\nThe rally will begin at 12PM at STU in the upper courtyard between Brian Mulroney and Margaret Norrie McCain Hall.\nWet’suwet’en land defenders are protecting their land from the Coastal GasLink project which is proposed to run through their traditional, unceded territory.\nThe Coastal GasLink project is owned by TransCanada Energy – a company which STU funds and profits from every year.\nThe goal of this rally and demonstration is to request a public statement of solidarity from St. Thomas University.\nSolidarity from the University requires a commitment to divest its endowment from TransCanada Energy and all other fossil fuel companies, which threaten Indigenous land rights and reconciliation, as well as environmental and social justice.\nAll students, staff, faculty, alumni and members of the community are encouraged to attend the rally.\nAll are invited to meet on Wednesday, Feb. 26th between 3-5PM in the Wabanaki Centre for a poster making and strategizing session.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
