In rebuilding our lives after disaster has struck, we could build better than what was there before. The fragile and fragmented early childhood education and care system cracked wide open under the pressure of the COVID 19 crisis. The project: Sketching narratives of movement towards comprehensive and competent early childhood educational systems across Canada is launching in this moment of uncertainty when the world is perhaps ready to reimagine itself. This first virtual gathering will bring together policy experts for a roundtable discussion on current early childhood education and care realities and initiatives across Canada to begin threading possibilities for new, future narratives.\nThe focus of this webinar will be on the impact of the changing realities in child care on the policy environment across Canada. The policy focus of this first webinar is intended to provoke further discussion of the intersectional nature of policy, practice and pedagogy in early childhood education and care in Canada.\nOn dit parfois qu’on de doit pas gaspiller une crise. L’orientation stratégique de ce premier webinaire vise à provoquer une discussion approfondie de la nature intersectionnelle des politiques, de la pratique et de la pédagogie dans les services d’éducation à la petite enfance au Canada.\nAgenda/ODJ\n➔ Welcome and Introduction/mot d’accueil: Monica Lysack ➔ Virtual Roundtable/Table ronde virtuelle 1\n➔ Q & A/Discussion\n➔ Virtual Roundtable/Table ronde virtuelle 2\n➔ Q & A/Discussion\n➔ Closing remarks/mots de clôture: Joanne Lehrer\nVirtual Roundtable/Table ronde virtuelle 1:\nPolicy Experts and members of the federal Expert Panel on Early Learning and Care\nExperts en politiques et membres du groupe d’experts fédéral sur l’apprentissage et l’éducation des jeunes enfants\n(Moderated by/modéré par Monica Lysack).\n\n●  Morna Ballantyne, Executive Director, Child Care Now\n●  Don Giesbrecht, CEO, Canadian Child Care Federation\n●  Dr. Christopher Smith, Associate Executive Director, Muttart Foundation, Edmonton,\nAlberta\n●  Martha Friendly, Executive Director, Childcare Resource and Research Unit\n●  Dr. Margo Greenwood, Academic Leader of the National Collaborating Centre for Aboriginal Health, Indigenous scholar of Cree ancestry, and Professor, First Nations Studies and Education, University of Northern British Columbia\n\nVirtual Roundtable/Table ronde virtuelle 2:\nCare at the Core- From Stabilization to Stimulus and Beyond: A Roadmap to Social and Economic Recovery\nLe Care au cœur – De la stabilisation à la stimulation et au-delà : Une carte ROUTIÈRE pour la reprise économique et sociale\nhttp://policyresponse.ca/care-at-the-core/ (Moderated by/modéré par Joanne Lehrer)\n\n●  Andrew Bevan is Executive Advisor to Mohamad Fakih, Chair of the Fakih Foundation, and a former chief of staff and principal secretary to both a Premier of Ontario and a federal Leader of the Opposition.\n●  Dr. Kate Bezanson is Associate Professor of Sociology, Associate Dean of Social Sciences at Brock University, and specializes in social policy, political economy, federalism and constitutional law.\n●  Kate Hammer is former senior policy advisor to the Premier of Ontario and to the Minister of Education, and a former journalist with the Globe and Mail and currently the Director of Government Relations at Vancity.\n●  Monica Lysack is professor of Early Childhood Education at Sheridan College and former special adviser to the Ontario Minister responsible for Early Years and Child Care and the Status of Women.\n\nImage references/références des images @lioneltop.
