Email fredericton.tertulia@gmail.com for the Zoom link.\nVladimir Tasic is a professor of mathematics and the author of several novels, some of which appeared in French, German, and Italian. His research interests include connections between mathematics and continental philosophy, in particular the role of mathematics in the work of Alain Badiou.\nAlain Badiou is a contemporary French philosopher, formerly chair of Philosophy at the École normale supérieure and founder of the faculty of Philosophy of the Université de Paris VIII with Gilles Deleuze, Michel Foucault and Jean-François Lyotard. He has written about the concepts of being, truth, event and the subject in a way that, he claims, is neither postmodern nor simply a repetition of modernity. Mathematics is assigned a key role in his philosophical system as one of the “conditions” of philosophy; along with art, politics, and love.\nWhat is a tertulia? A tertulia can be described as a literary and artistic social gathering or philosophy cafe where participants talk about ideas.
