Email fredericton.tertulia@gmail.com ( mailto:fredericton.tertulia@gmail.com ) for the Zoom link.\n\nKaren Robert is an Associate Professor of History at St. Thomas University. A historian of modern Argentina, her work uses material culture to explore social history and cultural myths. Her current research examines labour politics, human rights, and memory through a history of the Ford Falcon, the automobile that came to symbolize state terrorism in contemporary Argentina. Dr. Robert’s longstanding interest in innovative pedagogy has also led her to explore the use of mindfulness practices to deepen students’ historical consciousness and cognitive skills.\n\nPaulo Freire was a Brazilian educator, philosopher and author of Pedagogy of the Oppressed, a foundational text of the critical pedagogy movement.\n\nWhat is a tertulia? A tertulia can be described as a literary and artistic social gathering or philosophy cafe where participants talk about ideas. Tertulias combine words, music, poetry, art and whatever else speakers want to share.\n\nUpcoming Tertulias\nNov 25 – Margaret Kress on Winona LaDuke\nTertulias Fredericton is partnering with the NB Media Co-op to publish videos of some of the tertulias at nbmediacoop.org.\nTertulias Fredericton is supported by the Tobique River Trading Co.\nFor more information, contact: fredericton.tertulia@gmail.com ( mailto:fredericton.tertulia@gmail.com )\n\n
