Email Tracy at tglynn@stu.ca ( mailto:tglynn@stu.ca ) for the Zoom link.\nSince its appearance in the mid-1990s in canonical works by Mohanty (Mohanty et al. 1994; 1997) and Grewal and Kaplan (1994), transnational feminism has consolidated as a widely-utilized and internationally influential analytic in feminist studies. This talk will situate its emergence and development against the politics of feminist solidarities across difference, consider its contributions to that agenda and recent debates about its limitations and lacunae.\nJanet Conway is the Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University. Conway is a Full Professor of Sociology at Brock University and served as Canada Research Chair in Social Justice at Brock University from 2008-18. Informed by transnational feminist and decolonial critique, Conway’s research agenda focuses on contemporary transnational social justice movements and their significance for democratic social and political life in the face of multiple crises of the present.
