As we look to the decade beyond, what are some of the global issues the public, policymakers and the social sciences need to come to grip with? This panel will explore a few of those issues and offer insights on a world in transition.\nFeatured speakers \nShaun Narine on Geopolitical Transitions \nDr. Shaun Narine is a Professor and Chair of the Political Science Department at St. Thomas University. He has written extensively on the institutional arrangements of South East Asia, and is author of The New ASEAN in South East Asia and Beyond with Lynne Rienner Press.\nSuzanne Hindmarch on Global Governance \nDr. Suzanne Hindmarch is Associate Professor of Political Science at University of New Brunswick. Her research focuses on global health and security. She is the author of Securing Health: HIV and the Limits of Securitization with Routledge, and co-editor of Seeing Red: HIV/AIDS and public policy inCanada published with University of Toronto Press. \nCarey Watt on Change and Continuity in the Middle East \nDr. Carey Watt is Professor of History at St. Thomas University. His most recent work focuses on the globalization of physical culture in the early 20th century. He has also worked on philanthropy and civilizing missions in colonial and post-colonial contexts. He is co-editor of Civilizing Missions in Colonial and Postcolonial South Asia: From Improvement to Development, with Anthem Press. \nThis event is sponsored by the Canada Research Chair in Global and International Studies and the Political Science Department at St. Thomas University.
