DESCRIPTION:Liveable Saint John\nFor Immediate Release • Saint John, New Brunswick\nTuesday, March 19, 2024\nLOCAL COMMUNITY GROUP TO HOST PUBLIC MEETINGS TO DISCUSS POSSIBLE RE-OPENING OF AIM\nFollowing the news of an upcoming lawsuit by American Iron and Metal, seeking to quash the suspension of their Approval to Operate as a result of the fire on September 14, Saint John community group Liveable Saint John anticipates the eventual resumption of operations at the AIM scrap metal facility in the Lower West Side of Saint John.\nTo better understand the public impact, the community group is preparing a series of public engagement activities to gather feedback from residents, businesses, and community stakeholders. These activities include a series of online engagement sessions, a survey, and a petition.\nThere are two upcoming sessions in March and April\nSaturday, March 23, 2:00pm – Lancaster Mall Community Room\nThursday, April 11 at 6:00pm – Saint John Free Public Library in Market Square\nThe objective of this public engagement activity is to produce a set of recommendations, based on public feedback, on how AIM can be better regulated by the Department of the Environment, in the interest of public health and safety.\nFor those who cannot attend these sessions, the public are invited to share their thoughts and experience in an online survey, or participate in the petition, available at: https://liveablesj.ca\nLiveable Saint John is a volunteer-run community group.
