80 Years of the Nuclear Age: Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki

A poster exhibit curated by the Hiroshima Memorial Peace Museum will be on display at the Fredericton Public Library  (open every day in October, hours HERE) from October 3 to 31, 2025 . The exhibit remembers the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, marking 80 years since the United States dropped two atomic bombs on Japan in 1945, shortly before the end of the Second World War.

An opening event will be held on Friday, October 3, at 3:00 p.m. in the library’s River Reading Room (upstairs). The program will feature a talk by M.V. Ramana, Professor and Simons Chair in Disarmament, Global and Human Security at the University of British Columbia.

The exhibit is presented in partnership with the Fredericton Public Library by five projects, programs and departments at St. Thomas University: the STU CEDAR project, the Sustainability and Environmental Studies Program, the Human Rights Department, the History Department, and the International Relations Program.
