Amy Dryer is a Calgary-based award-winning artist who studied fine arts at the Alberta College of Art and Design, the Glasgow School of Art (Scotland) and the Fine Art program at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. Dryer’s paintings are in a number of collections throughout Canada, and the US, including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts public art collection.
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico.
Amy Dryer will speak on “Connecting to Frida,” about both Frida Kahlo and herself as a painter and how she connects personally to Frida as an artist and woman.
What is a tertulia? A tertulia can be described as a literary and artistic social gathering or philosophy cafe where participants talk about ideas. Tertulias combine words, music, poetry, art and whatever else speakers want to share.
