It’s sometimes said that “a crisis is a terrible thing to waste;” it can be an opportunity to learn and avoid repeating past mistakes. In rebuilding our lives after disaster has struck, we could build better than what was there before. The fragile and fragmented early childhood education and care system cracked wide open under the pressure of the COVID 19 crisis. The project: ​Sketching narratives of movement towards comprehensive and competent early childhood educational systems across Canada ​is launching in this moment of uncertainty when the world is perhaps ready to reimagine itself. This first virtual gathering will bring together policy experts for a roundtable discussion on current early childhood education and care realities and initiatives across Canada to begin threading possibilities for new, future narratives.

The focus of this webinar will be on the impact of the changing realities in child care on the policy environment across Canada. The policy focus of this first webinar is intended to provoke further discussion of the intersectional nature of policy, practice and pedagogy in early childhood education and care in Canada.

On dit parfois qu’on de doit pas gaspiller une crise. Cela peut être l’occasion d’apprendre et d’éviter de répéter les erreurs du passé. En reconstruisant nos vies après la pandémie, nous pouvons choisir de construire mieux que ce qui existait auparavant. Le système fragile et fragmenté d’éducation à la petite enfance à travers le Canada se révèle sous la pression de la crise COVID 19. Le projet : Esquisser des récits de transformations vers des systèmes adaptés d’éducation de la petite enfance à travers le Canada démarre dans ce moment d’incertitude où le monde est peut-être prêt à se réinventer. Ce premier rassemblement virtuel réunira des experts en politiques dans le cadre de deux tables rondes sur les réalités et initiatives actuelles en matière d’éducation des jeunes enfants à travers le Canada afin de commencer à explorer les possibilités de récits futurs novateurs.
Ce webinaire mettra l’accent sur les effets des nouvelles réalités en transformation sur l’environnement politique au Canada des services de garde éducatifs. L’orientation stratégique de ce premier webinaire vise à provoquer une discussion approfondie de la nature intersectionnelle des politiques, de la pratique et de la pédagogie dans les services d’éducation à la petite enfance au Canada.
