Reducing or promoting poverty? Challenging the “poverty industry”

Reducing or promoting poverty? Challenging the “poverty industry”

Hosted by Renaissance College
Friday November 22 from 9:00am – 12:00 pm at Marshall d’Avray Hall, Room 261 | UNB
Join us for critical discussion and screening of Poverty Inc. a documentary inquiry into the nature of human flourishing and the effects of the multibillion-dollar poverty industrial complex erected to promote it. From TOMs Shoes to international adoptions, from solar panels to U.S. agricultural subsidies, the film challenges each of us to ask the tough questions: Could I be part of the problem? What might be more sustainable, just, and inclusive approaches to social innovation and social entrepreneurship.
