Jane Jenkins, an Associate Professor and the Director of Science and Technology Studies at St. Thomas University, will chronicle New Brunswick’s experience of the 1918 influenza pandemic, the roles of the state, science, and the media in dealing with the public health crisis and what lessons this past pandemic may have for managing the COVID-19 pandemic.
On March 21, the NB Media Co-op published its most popular story ever, a story about Jane Jenkins’ paper, “Baptism of Fire: New Brunswick’s Public Health Movement and the 1918 Influenza Epidemic.” You can read the story and Jenkins’ paper here: https://nbmediacoop.org/2020/03/21/shutting-the-province-down-the-1918-1919-flu-epidemic-in-new-brunswick/
