Speaking truth to power: Building solidarity between trans and feminist communities

March 18th, 4-5:30PM Eastern on Zoom

We are in a new era, one defined, at least in part, by resurgent public interest in transgender issues. Increasingly, trans issues and rights are being framed as a threat to women. How should feminists respond? What truth is there in these arguments – if any? In this powerhouse panel discussion, prominent feminist advocates and thought leaders will explore how women’s rights and trans rights aren’t in opposition, but in fact compliment each other.

We’ll talk through the supposed tensions and expose the fundamentally misogynistic and anti-women agenda underneath the rise of anti-trans rhetoric and policies. From women’s shelters to prisons to bathrooms and beyond, this is your space to hear a different side of the story – one grounded in decades of feminist advocacy and philosophy. We do not shame or blame any woman or feminist who has felt anxious or uncertain about trans rights. Hateful rhetoric and fear-mongering is being used to cast trans people as a threat and turn us against each other.

We will debunk this rhetoric and make clear the deeper threat to women’s rights that underpins the anti-trans agenda. We do not expect perfection – we welcome dialogue. We invite women from all walks of life to see through the lies of our opposition and join us in building a world where women, girls and trans people are free.
