Gaza-based photojournalist Rizek Abdeljawad’s work to be shown at Fredericton halal food fundraiser

Join us for a cultural fundraiser featuring authentic Middle Eastern halal cuisine, henna artistry, and face painting. Your participation will directly support humanitarian aid in Gaza and Sudan with a portion of the proceeds also benefiting a local charitable organization in Fredericton. Families are welcome to enjoy our kids’ corner, which includes fun games, popcorn, and fun costumes, while guests can relax with complimentary coffee and tea

The fundraiser will also host “RETURN from the Dead,” the first-ever photography exhibit by Gaza City photojournalist Rizek Abdeljawad. His career includes work for the Associated Press. For the last two years
he has been documenting life in the shadow of Israel’s genocidal assault. His work is featured by NB Media Co-op and On the Line Media.

Rizek writes: “I am journalist Rizek Abdeljawad from Gaza City. The images you are seeing capture part of a war that has torn through our world in this small city, reducing it to ashes.”
