Webinar – On Settler Colonialism from Latin America to Palestine with Aviva Chomsky
The Atlantic Regional Solidarity Network (ARSN) sign-on committee would like to invite you to join us on November 27th at 6pm Atlantic Time for a webinar presentation and discussion with Dr. Aviva Chomsky: On Settler Colonialism: From Latin America to Palestine. Chomsky is a professor of History and Coordinator of the Latin American Studies program at Salem State University, Massachusetts. Aviva Chomsky has been a guest speaker at an ARSN gathering. In this talk, Chomsky responds to Adam Kirsch’s On Settler Colonialism: Ideology, Violence, and Justice. Kirsch critiques the very concept of settler colonialism, and in particular the application of a settler colonial analysis to the state of Israel. Chomsky argues that a Latin American perspective can offer a helpful response to Kirsch’s distortions. Omar Shullaih (Cape Breton University Alumni) and a Mi’kmaq guest (TBA) will join as discussants.
Co-sponsors include Freedom for Palestine Unama’ki/Cape Breton, Independent Jewish Voices Unama’ki/Cape Breton, Common Frontiers, Fredericton Palestine Solidarity and the Atlantic Regional Solidarity Network.
