Fredericton – The Charlotte Street Arts Centre is pleased to continue our partnership with Gallery Connexion into 2013, to bring you a new year of SALON CONNEX, an opportunity to talk about what matters in art.

SALON CONNEX is an engaging salon series, established in 2011, that unites the educational and arts communities in Fredericton. The salons take place in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre Auditorium and are professionally mediated, lively discussion forums around the content of select Gallery Connexion exhibitions.

The current exhibition at Gallery Connexion is entitled Sanguine, Terre Brulee et Autres Angoises by Acadian artist, Maryse Arseneault and runs until March 8th. In the exhibition, Arseneault addresses her own heritage and identity to raise questions about friendships, alliances, and animosities that have existed historically – and might continue to exist – between Acadians and the First Nations people of New Brunswick.

The upcoming salon takes place on Thursday, February 28th, from 7:30 – 9pm and will be moderated by Jane Guerts, head of Design at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. Jane holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor degree in Education from UNB, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Diploma in Design from Sheridan Institute. She has acted as advisor and juror for many design competitions and has given workshops and lectures on art, design and creativity for Colleges and Universities throughout North America, in India and France. Jane will help guide the discussion around Maryse Arseneault’s work and offer important questions for consideration. All are welcome to attend and admission is free. Picaroons beer tastings will be available.

SALON CONNEX is supported by the Province of New Brunswick Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, as well as by Picaroons Traditional Ales.
