Palestinian Ibrahim al-Dabba, 49, is recovering some of the beehives he lost during the war, resuming his beekeeping work with his sons on the roof of a damaged residential building in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, in the southwest part of Gaza City. He and his displaced family sought refuge in the building after losing their home and much of their beekeeping equipment during the conflict.
Al-Dabba has resumed tending to his hives despite the lack of equipment and the widespread destruction of the agricultural sector in Gaza. His beekeeping relies on wildflowers that have sprouted in the heavily damaged neighbourhood.
The Gaza Ministry of Agriculture stated in its most recent report last month that the war has affected 28,400 beehives in the Gaza Strip.
