Palestinian photographer Kifah Al-Fakhoury, 35, continues to practice her profession despite losing her leg months ago in an Israeli airstrike.
Al-Fakhoury has been working as a photographer for 17 years. She suffered a devastating injury in June 2025, when the Israeli military bombed Al-Baqa Café and Lounge in Gaza City. The airstrike killed at least 33 people and destroyed the well-known seaside refuge.
Although she survived the attack, Al-Fakhoury lost her left leg, resulting in major challenges in mobility required for her work. And yet, she is determined to continue her career and hopes to obtain a prosthetic leg that will enable her to walk again and regain her independence.
She currently lives in a tent in Al-Rimal, a neighborhood in central Gaza City, having lost her home in eastern Gaza City during the war.
