Women elected in NB

None of the women running for the Liberal Party (12), the Green Party (23) or the NDP (18) won a seat.‬‪‬‪

Progressive Conservative: 42 seats; 49%

NDP: 0; 10%
‬‪Green: 0; 5%‬‪
People’s Alliance: 0; 1%
Independent: 0; 1%‬‪‬‪‬‪

Voter turnout:   72% of eligible voters voted, up from 68% in 2006.‬‪‬‪‬‪

On note une légère amélioration dans la représentation des femmes à l’Assemblée législative au lendemain de l’élection générale au N.-B. du 27 septembre 2010.  Huit femmes ont été élues à l’Assemblée de 55 sièges, à peine 15% des sièges.  Toutes sont PC.

Sept femmes avaient été élues lors de l’élection de 2006, ou 13% des sièges. Dix femmes ont été élues lors des élections de 1991 et de 1999.

Dans l’élection d’hier, moins d’un tiers des candidats étaient des femmes : 71 sur un total de 236, ou 30%. Le parti progressiste conservateur du N.-B. a fait élire 8 de ses 14 candidates.
Aucune des femmes qui se présentaient pour le Parti libéral (12), le Parti vert (23) ou le NPD (18) a été élue.‪
