The NB Media Co-op will host a virtual all-candidates debate ahead of the upcoming Miramichi municipal election, bringing together candidates running for mayor.

The debate is scheduled for Monday, May 4, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. ADT and will be livestreamed on the NB Media Co-op’s YouTube channel (@NBMediaCoop). A recording will be made available afterward for residents who are unable to watch live.

You can find the poster here.

The event will be hosted and moderated by NB Media Co-op reporter David Gordon Koch and Niger Saravia, a Miramichi-area resident and community organizer. All five candidates in the running for mayor were invited to participate, and four have confirmed their attendance.

Candidates will join virtually via Zoom. The debate is expected to run between 45 minutes and one hour.

Topics on the agenda include housing, homelessness, policing, local infrastructure, immigration, and economic development.

The debate will be conducted in English. We hope that you can join us!
