This is the latest dispatch from Rizek Abdel Jawad, a photojournalist based in Gaza City who frequently contributes to the NB Media Co-op.
Dr. Mahmoud Al-Hajj Ahmed, 37, from the northern Gaza Strip, is pictured treating patients in his tent, located just 60 m from the “yellow line,” which marks the Israeli military’s withdrawal during the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, in the Beit Lahia area.
He was photographed just before the third anniversary of Oct. 7, 2023. Since then, the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip has claimed the lives of over 74,000 Palestinians, according to the Ministry of Health.
The clinic established by Al-Hajj Ahmed lacks most medical supplies due to Israel’s ongoing restrictions. Consequently, patients are often forced to purchase medical supplies from pharmacies themselves before visiting the clinic to receive treatment from Al-Hajj Ahmed.
